Overlooking the hidden gem of the beach at Polurrian Cove on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall.
Polurrian Cove is located just beyond the headland to the north of Mullion Cove and south of Poldhu Cove. The beach here is quite large at low tide when a fine expanse of golden sand is revealed. The high cliffs that flank the beach provide some shelter from the breeze, although the west-facing aspect means it often comes straight off the sea. Due to it's location and lack of easily accessible parking, Polurrian Cove beach is often much quieter than the likes of Poldhu Cove or Kynance Cove, even in the summer months.
The South West Coast Path will lead you over the undulating headlands to Mullion Cove or to the famous Poldhu Cove and the Lizard Wireless Telegraph Station, where Italian inventor, Guglielmo Marconi, sent the first transatlantic radio signal from in December 1901.
