The golden sands of the popular Porthminster beach at St.Ives one the north coast of Cornwall.
Porthminster Beach is a stunning crescent of golden sand in St Ives. It offers breathtaking views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Sheltered by the headland and protected from the Atlantic swell.
St.Ives is a Cornish town known for its idyllic harbour, its quaint shops, its cobbled streets and its internationally celebrated art scene. It’s perhaps less known, however, for its beaches. But beaches it does have like Porthmeor and Porthgwidden. They are all superb, particularly Porthminster Beach.
In former times, St.Ives was commercially dependent on fishing. The decline in fishing, however, caused a shift in commercial emphasis, and the town is now primarily a popular tourist resort, in the winter it is almost a ghost town as the abundance of second homes lie empty.
